The outcome of traditional
traction or flexion-distraction is distraction and mobilization. Various human
studies have proven that traction and flexion-distraction can cause spinal
muscle guarding, producing a significant increase in muscle spasms and pain.
The Chattanooga Triton® DTS™ system utilizes pelvic angles built into the table
to focus directly on one single spinal disc and not the entire spine. Thus,
more pounds per square inch are capable of decompressing the injured disc and
not producing potential patient muscle spasming or unnecessary guarding.
The Triton® DTS™ computer controls
the variations in the traction pull allowing for spinal decompression and
eliminating muscle guarding that is typical in conventional traction devices.
